Sorry for the late reply, been busy with work so I haven’t had a chance to write much. During Halloween, my girlfriend and I went to the Las Vegas for Halloween. Stayed their for 4 nights 5 days at the Encore. With the Centurion card you get great amenties to the Wynn and Encore Hotel. Some of the amenities include a free $100 Spa credit, free $100 dining credit, late 4pm checkout and a free hotel room upgrade.
When I checked in to the hotel, I handed the lady my centurion card and she was like wow “you are so young and you have one of these” LOL I thought it was pretty funny. What was more funny was that the manager was standing behind his staff making sure everyone was doing their job correctly. When he saw my centurion card, he ran over to me and personally introduced himself and gave me his business card. He told me if I needed anything to contact him directly! Pretty cool if you were to ask me. This wasn’t the only occasion that this has happened. Several times in nightclubs when I’ve handed them my centurion card for my table, I always notice I get more respect and better “deals”
A while back I was looking through my Amex Points Catalog and I stumbled across a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder lease for 12 million points!!! Damn that’s a shitload of points! Thats 12 million dollars spent on your amex card. I’ve heard of people with 7 million points, but 12 is just insane! If you do somehow rack up 12 million points you can lease a brand new Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder for 1 year. I guess if you owned a huge corporation and used your Amex card as your primary credit card you might be able to rack up 12 million points. Not a bad treat for the CEO of the company!

Often times I’ve been asked by people, can you buy a car with your American Express Centurion Card? The answer is yes you can, but not always. Let me explain why you can and cannot. The card certainly does have the credit limit to support it, but most car dealerships will not suck up the high merchant fee American Express charges them.
A while back I tried to buy a car with my American Express Card, the dealer said no, but I offered to pay the merchant fee American Express charged them for. They still said no. I asked why not? The dealer said it’s dangerous because the client can easily call and do a charge back. It puts a lot of liability on the dealer’s hands and they are not willing to take that risk. However though, that dealership did say that numerous people have bought cars from them using their Centurion Cards, but they’ve been long standing loyal customers. So there you have it, on can you buy a car with the Centurion Card!
I’ve never found a link to the American Express Centurion Card until now. I googled American Express Centurion Card and this came up.
American Express Centurion Link
It looks like it appears to be for their euro clientele. Not sure if the U.S has a link like that as well.
So you guys are probably wondering how heavy exactly is The Centurion Card? The Centurion Card is handmade out of titanium and weights significantly more then the average plastic credit card. I feel that most of the time when I use my Centurion Card to buy something the first thing people realize how heavy it is. Then they take a second look and sometimes they say “o shit, its a black card” or “why is it so heavy?” “what is it made out of?”
Well I was bored and decided to put my Centurion Card on a food scale to compare with my previous Platinum Card. The weight of the Centurion is 3 times as much! It feels much heavier to me then just 3 times though. See for yourself!
So after my journey to 7-11 and not having my Centurion Card recognized, I said shit, lets try this again! I didn’t pay $7500 for nothing! So I drive over to Nordstroms and decide to buy some t-shirts and jeans. I pick out a couple of things I like try them on, and then bring them to the cashier. It was a younger girl working, probably in her early 20′s. My total purchase as around $400, and I gave her my Centurion card. She immediately recognized my card and said “nice black card”
I smiled and said “thanks” she told me she never realized how heavy these cards were. LOL
So there you have it! Second purchase and the Centurion card was recognized! I think it’s easier to be recognized when people actually hold the card and realize how different it is immediately. There are a lot of “black colored” cards out there these days but when you hold a real centurion card, you’ll know what it is.

After activating my Centurion Card, what else could I do except use to buy something! Sadly it wasn’t anything too crazy, it was like a $3 energy drink at a 7-11. When the cashier rung me up, I pulled out my card to pay. I honestly felt a little awkward pulling it out , I guess in my head I just thought everyone would know about it and that I am being very flashy. (Not that I am not use to being flashy because I do drive a Lamborghini) LOL.
Anyways when I pulled the card out to swipe it, I realized that it was a lot thicker and harder to run through the machine. It felt as though I was sliding a knife through the credit card machine. Definitely not the smooth and easy feeling you get when you slide a plastic credit card through!
Sadly the cashier didn’t mention anything about my centurion card, and no fireworks happened when the transaction went through. I guess my next stop will have to be a restaurant or a store where I have to hand the card to someone.
So after receiving the what I thought was my Centurion card package in the mail, I called the number on the back of my American Express Platinum Card and asked if I qualify for the Centurion card. They transferred me to the right department and the lady pulled up my accout and said yes, I had an invitation! She asked if I would like to “upgrade” to Centurion and without even thinking I said yes. Afterwards I was like “ahh shit,” I forgot about the $5000 initiation fee and the $2500 annual fee which is due when you get your card! I wrote it off as if I were to buy a nice watch, it’s $7500 for a piece of wallet jewelry in a sense.
Within a few days I received my American Express Centurion Card! Here are the pictures and letter it came with:
Ever since starting my online marketing business, I was able to put a lot of my company expenses on my American Express Platinum Card. With things going well, I was also spending a lot of money on the personal side as well for travel, entertainment and dining out. After the year I realized that I’ve had over 500k in annual spending for my platinum card! I received something very interesting in the mail. At first I thought “O shit, did they send me a Centurion card?!?” Then I thought wait a minute, I never paid the $5000 initiation fee nor the annual fee yet. There is no way they could’ve just sent me the card right?
It was a teaser/informal invitation from American Express. Here is what I received.
(This happened about 3 years ago) I’ve been a Platinum card holder for quite sometime now, but I was never able to hit the high amount that was required to qualify for a Centurion card. I would spend around 100-200k a year and back then the limits were 250k and up to qualify. Most of the spendings at that time were for business anyways. I believe American Express wants you to spend more money on personal goods such as travel or entertainment to be able to qualify for a Centurion Card.
Nonetheless knowing that my yearly spending was not up to the “requirements” I said what the hell, I’ll try to apply anyways. So I called the number on the back of my Platinum card and said to the rep I would like to apply for a Centurion card. She said ok and then transferred me to that department. The department I was transferred to didn’t say anything more then “would you like to apply” I said yes and they forwarded my application in. They said I could check my status online on the American Express website. I checked it within 3 days and I my status for the Centurion card was DECLINED!! I was heartbroken
LOL (not really, but was sad)
